Queen Zaynab Obanor’s exemplary move
Though Queen Wuraola Zaynab Otiti Obanor —the ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife; Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi— might have locked almatters concerning her private life, like a goldfish with no hidden place, reports of her rising corporate profile and her humanitarian activities keep swirling around. The Bini-born stylish lady has fully re-established her tentacles in the Middle East —her new base is Doha, Qatar where she lives a luxurious life with her new hubby, a rich Arab prince with whom she had a bouncing baby last year. However, the top lady is living up to her first name; ‘Zaynab’ which means munificence.
The gorgeous lady believes that regardless of where you are in life, there is something that you can offer, and that you mustn’t wait to be rich to be able to save the world. For her, the act of generosity must first start from willingness to develop a kind spirit.
This is where she derived the inspiration to start her very successful foundation, Queen Zaynab Foundation —a precursor to her new project, The Arab-African Economic Development Initiative, set up to bridge the gap between Africa and the Middle East, and helping to anchor projects to improve the lives of people in Africa by looking at critical ways to harness the human and natural resources first in Nigeria and the rest of Africa. Speaking on the driving force behind her good deeds, Queen Zaynab, who was honoured as the Humanitarian of the Year during the 2017 UNGA Week in New York, United States, said: “To change the world is to first change our thought towards giving and it has to be a collective movement.” So far, 34 countries across both continents have become partners of her organisation, pledging their support along with their relevant ministries in their various governments.
