Sport: CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifier Draw Set For Cairo
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will hold the draw for the 2024/2025 Women’s Champions League qualifiers on Wednesday, July 24 in Cairo.
The event, scheduled for 11:00 am, will be live-streamed on CAF TV and CAFOnline.com. This marks the official start of the women’s interclub football season in Africa.
The draw will cover four zones: UNAF (North Africa), UNIFFAC (Central Africa), WAFU B (West Africa B), and CECAFA (East Africa). Each zone has a set of teams entered and specific dates for their qualifying tournaments. WAFU B will run from August 10-23, UNAF from August 21-31, CECAFA from August 17 to September 4, and UNIFFAC from August 16-24.
Notable teams participating include Edo Queens from Nigeria, Hasaacas Ladies from Ghana, AS Far from Morocco, and Simba Queens from Tanzania. The tournaments will feature clubs from various countries across the continent, including Algeria, Egypt, Kenya, and DR Congo, among others.
The draw for the remaining zones, COSAFA (Southern Africa) and WAFU A (West Africa A) will be announced at a later date. This comprehensive qualifying structure ensures representation from all regions of Africa in the Women’s Champions League.
This tournament underscores CAF’s commitment to developing women’s football across Africa. It follows CAF’s renewed objective to provide more opportunities for female footballers and raise the profile of women’s club football on the continent.
