Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has said that he will hit the ground running immediately after he is sworn in today on a fresh mandate of a four-year term as governor.
Aiyedatiwa said that after taking his oath of office, he would move straight to his office where some key actions would be taken on his first day. He, however, said that all sectors of the state would be his focus.
The governor gave the promise, yesterday while fielding questions from newsmen at the Beach Sunsplash in Araromi Seaside in Ilaje Local Council of the state, which was organised as part of activities lined up for the inauguration ceremony.
Aiyedatiwa, who stated that his administration’s focal points for the next four years will be rolled out under what he described as the ‘Our Ease’ agenda, emphasised that part of the priorities would be to increase the current Internally-Generated Revenues (IGR) of the state. He said: “We are trying to expand our sources of income through tourism, and we have it here in Araromi Seaside.
“We already have what we intend to do for the next four years in the state. We are moving from the redeemed agenda of the last administration to Our Ease agenda, which was the mantra for our campaign. You cannot say this is the particular sector you want to touch as every sector of the state is very important, and we will touch every one of them.
“After my inauguration, I’ll move straight to my office and start work because the day is Monday. Also, some appointments are going to be declared on that day. I won’t reveal what my cabinet will look like.’’
“From the record, the actual revenue in a month in Ondo State is around N1.7 billion to N2 billion. That is the actual figure. We have a consultant that we have been talking to. The potential for revenue generation a month in Ondo State really can be N4 billion to N5 billion or N6 billion in a month.
“There are leakages that we are talking to the consultant about how best we can deploy technology to manage our revenue generation. It is part of the agreement I am going to sign by the time I am inaugurated.”
According to him, sectors, such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and tourism, among others, will be given critical attention.”
