Avanti Commits to Nigeria, Seeks FG’s Support for Improved Satellite Connectivity
Avanti Communications has reaffirmed its commitment towards increasing its footprints in its bid to improving satellite connectivity in Nigeria.
The Chief Operating Officer, Libby Barr, explained that Avanti has invested over $1.2 billion on infrastructure globally out of which $800m was invested in Africa.
Speaking at the launch of its flagship office in Lagos, Nigeria, she said Avanti is committed to investing in Africa, maintaining that a significant part of its investment is specifically targeted at Nigeria.
In her words: “So we felt it was a great opportunity to have a new office for better service delivery. We believe it is very important to have people here on the ground. We feel very welcome in Nigeria and we have built lots of partnerships and we want to continue to that. We will seek support of the government to push connectivity across Nigeria, because that is what we believe would make the difference.”
She pointed out that as the number one high throughput satellite company in Africa, Avanti’s new office will become a hub for employees across the continent.
“The Heritage Place office is Nigeria’s first environmentally certified commercial building, situated in a world-class development in Ikoyi, the commercial district which is home to global tech companies including Oracle and Microsoft,” she added.
