The Ecowas Youth Council has announced that His Excellency, Archbishop Designate Bishop Isaac Idahosa, the Presiding Bishop of God First Ministries and Vice Presidential Candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), alongside His Excellency Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Presidential Candidate during the 2023 Nigerian general election, has been selected as the recipient of the prestigious Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity, Seunmanuel Faleye writes.
In a letter from the Office of the President of the Ecowas Youth Council, it was stated that the council approved Bishop Idahosa’s nomination in recognition of his “notable impact on thousands of youths across the African continent.” The letter went on to praise Bishop Idahosa’s “untireless service to humanity and youth development.”
As the 56th recipient of the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award, Bishop Idahosa has also been elected to serve as an Ecowas Youth Ambassador. This appointment is a testament to Bishop Idahosa’s longstanding dedication and commitment to empowering young people and driving positive change throughout the region.
In a related development, the African Institute for Development and Leadership Studies appointed His Excellency, Archbishop Designate Bishop Isaac Idahosa, as a member of its Board of Regents and an Associate Professorial Nominee, effective December 1st, 2024. In this role, Bishop Idahosa will play a vital part in shaping the institution’s strategic direction, overseeing its operations, and ensuring its continued success. His expertise, experience, and commitment to the institute’s mission will be invaluable assets to the team.
“I am deeply honoured and humbled to receive these prestigious recognitions,” said Bishop Idahosa. “These appointments are a reflection of the hard work and sacrifice of my entire ministry team, and I share these honours with the thousands of young people whose lives we have been able to positively impact over the years.”
The Ecowas Youth Council also noted that Bishop Idahosa will be required to take immediate steps to enable the council to operate promptly, including obtaining a special presidential plate number. Additionally, all necessary documents related to this diplomatic mission will be attached to his appointment.
The investiture ceremony for Bishop Idahosa’s professorial title is scheduled to be held in Lagos, Nigeria, in February 2025, coinciding with his 60th birthday celebration service. A team of professors from the African Institute for Development & Leadership Studies will be present for this event.
“These awards are a testament to Bishop Idahosa’s unwavering commitment to serving the people of Africa, and we are excited to work alongside him as he continues to champion the cause of youth development, good governance, and effective leadership,” said Amb.
