Rigata: Kebbi River, Sakachi Presents Live Hippopotamus To Governor
In a symbolic end to the three days rigata festival in Yauri local government area of Kebbi state, the river guard known as sarkin ruwan Gungu Sakachi village, Alhaji Kasano Sakachi has presented a live hippopotamus to the governor of Kebbi state, Dr Nasir Idris to mark the climax of the Yauri river cultural festival rigata.
The annual festival seeks to unite the people of the state through cultural display of Yauri heritage which include mastery of the river and the live wild animals living below the famous Yauri river in the state.
Earlier, the governor of Kebbi state, Dr Idris while receiving the live hippopotamus said that the state government would make it an annual event and as well move it the permanent site.
Idris added that in line with his resolve to bring governance to the people his government would construct roads across the state.
The chief of staff to president Tinubu mister Femi gbajabiamila represented by Alhaji Garba Sanusi stated that the federal government will continue to develop Yauri emirate through HYPADEC by providing all necessary social amenities to the riverine areas in the state.
Emir of Yauri the host, Dr Zayyanu Abdullahi thanked the governor and important dignities who graced the occasion particularly the state minister for education, Dr Yusuf Tanko Sununu, secretary to the state government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, emir of Kontagora among other top government functionaries.
