Emmy Awards: Give honours to best television, drama and acting categories
After a four-month delay caused by Hollywood strikes, the Emmy Awards are poised to honor the best in television on Monday. The usual September event was rescheduled to January, with HBO’s “Succession” predicted to take home top prizes.
The acclaimed show, portraying the power struggles within an ultra-wealthy family, leads the nominations with 27, including best drama and acting categories. Notable competition includes “The Last of Us” and “The White Lotus.”
Despite the delay potentially affecting viewership, the ceremony promises excitement with stars from “The Bear” and “Ted Lasso” vying for recognition. The January slot, coinciding with Hollywood’s film awards season, adds a unique twist to the event.
“Succession” faces tough competition, but the delayed Emmys provide a platform for overdue recognition for shows like “The Bear,” which premiered back in June 2022. However, stars of “Ted Lasso” seek a final chance at glory for its underwhelming last season.
In the limited series categories, Netflix’s “Beef” and “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” lead with 13 nods each, featuring standout performances by Ali Wong and Evan Peters. The ceremony, set to kick off at 5:00 pm in Los Angeles, will be broadcast on Fox in the United States.
