Gospel music, my call from God –Minstrel Akan
For gospel artiste, Christopher Akan aka Minstrel Akan, music is a call from God and he has decided never to look back.
Minstrel Akan has performed in various churches in Nigeria and Ghana. His 13-track debut album, Praise Jesus, which was released in 2019, has received global attention.
According to him, Praise Jesus is a praise and worship tune, which inspires faith and hope in God. “I discovered my musical talent at the age of 15, which made me to join the church choir of Assemblies of God Amore, where I honed my talent. By 1998, I had become a praise and worship leader. I remember leading a praise session at RCCG Lekki where the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Adeboye was in attendance. In 2009, I joined The Pillaz (an acapella group) where I am currently the president. I have been singing as a solo artiste for over two decades,” he explained.
Talking about the challenges he had faced, the gospel artiste said they include lack of resources, to not getting encouragement from those who were opportune to assist him.
Minstrel Akan has released three singles after his debut album and is currently working on his next music project.
