Seyi Law declares his position in comedy industry
Popular Nigerian comedian Oluwaseyitan Aletile, better known as Seyi Law, has expressed that he has no competition in the comedy industry.
Speaking on Hip TV’s show “Trending,” Seyi Law noted his love for comedy icons such as Alibaba, Julius Agwu, Basketmouth, and AY, whom he referred to as his benefactors.
Seyi Law explained that, as a Yoruba man, it goes against his culture to compete with individuals who have offered him support.
He expressed his gratitude for the opportunities they provided throughout his career.
Seyi Law declares his position in comedy industry.
“I have played with everybody and I still respect everybody. We respect the likes of Alibaba. At some point, I had to go on a comedy tour with Julius Agwu who didn’t discriminate against me. I’ve covered events for Basketmouth. He has paid me for shows. I’ve also worked with AY,” he said.
Seyi Law further stressed that he does not concern himself with comedian rankings.
“At some point in the comedy industry, there was no rift and there wasn’t any reason to start categorising the comedians,” he explained.
“No matter the differences they have, they’re still my senior colleagues in the business. And they have not had reasons to compete with me. So, anywhere you place me on the ranking is okay by me.”
The comedian added, “The most important thing is that we must not allow the industry to suffer.”
