Slander: Eniola Badmus rejects apology, vows legal action
Eniola Badmus
Actress Eniola Badmus has rejected the apology of a woman simply identified as Ego who accused her of pimping ladies for politicians in a video that went viral on the social media.
In the viral video, Ego accused Eniola Badmus of being a “Professional Pimp,” alleging that the actress facilitated connections between young girls and influential politicians across Nigeria.
In response to the serious accusations that could jeopardize her career and reputation, Badmus vowed to clear her name and promptly initiated legal proceedings against Ego, demanding proof of the allegation.
However, Ego later recanted, admitting that her allegations were against Badmus were fabricated to gain social media mileage due to the financial hardship confronting her. She revealed that a friend had enticed her with a tempting offer to make a video slandering Badmus, with the hope of using the proceeds from the viewership to resolve her financial struggles, including covering her rent.
She visited Ego’s residence with witnesses and some journalists during which she asserted that an apology from Ego would not be sufficient to clear the injury she has suffered as a result of the false allegation. She expressed her resolve to pursue the legal route to clear her name and protect her standing within the entertainment industry.
“I appreciate Ego’s admission, but the consequences of her actions cannot be ignored. We must proceed to court,” declared Eniola Badmus.
The actress further emphasized that Ego must produce the friend that told her she was involved in pimping ladies to politicians, as a witness during the legal proceedings.
