“They have all been classified into those receiving surgery, those to receive medication and those to be given eye glasses.
“All the three categories are being taken care of here and the program is moving smoothly here as you can see. This is a wonderful project that is taken place in the Kano North Senatorial Zone not only in Bichi but in Kabo and Danbatta as the centres for other Local Government Areas around them.
“It is a wonderful project if it can be replicated in other Constituencies because some of these services are not affordable to a lot of people that need them and in some case even if they can afford them it is difficult to reach.
“I wish to thank and congratulate the deputy Senate President, the Sight Savers and of course the Federal Teaching Hospital Katsina for this wonderful initiative” he stated.
Beneficiaries in their hundreds were seen queuing in the early morning hours of Saturday where they were examined by medical experts to establish the treatment they would require.
Those who are to undergo surgery are given the necessary tests like blood test, before they are operated on.
Others who only need drugs are also screened while those in need of eye glasses are also identified.
A middle aged lady, Mariya Bello said she is now very happy she has eye glasses and could see clearly unlike when she came to the hospital with blurred vision.
“Please express my gratitude to Distinguished Senator Barau Jibrin for providing me with these eye glasses. It is wonderful that I can now see things very clearly unlike when I came in the morning with blurred vision. I was told by the doctor that I will not be having frequent headaches again” she stated.
