Dora Akunyili remains embodiment of fine character, says Akinwumi
Prof. Dora Akunyili
Nine years after the death of the former director general of the National Agency National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and Minister of Information and Communications, Prof Dora Akunyili, a Media Consultant/ Publicisit, Mr. Akinwunmi Ibrahim, has said she remained an embodiment of fine character
In a tribute commemorating the death, he said Akunyili embodies so many fine characteristics both at home and abroad during her service years to Nigeria.
The tribute read: “Every 7th day of June always strikes a memory cord of the Edemobis and Akunyilis, perhaps, the Nigerian people.
“This is so because on this day in 2014, we lost a rare gem to the cold hands of death.
“Late Prof. Dora Nkem Akunyili (nee Edemobi) embodies so many fine characteristics both at home and abroad during her service years as the Former Director General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control and Minister of Information and Communications.
“One of what she embodies is the ability to have opened the can worm of truth in the most daring and challenging time of our country where the few cabals had held us to ransom all in the name of the majority.
“Even at NAFDAC where the late Dora once held sway as the audacious Director General of no-nonense, the good template and model she had laid is still practicable by the anti-narcotic agency till date.
“Without a doubt, Dora is one of the brightest stars of all time. The Amazon whose strength can never be compared. All offices that felt her touch exudes excellence given to her optimal performance.
“The same esprit de corps of excellence is what her six beautiful children exemplified-making them to reign in the white man’s land and in the shore of our country
“If Dora were to be alive today, perhaps, she would have been the most privileged Vice-President Nigerians would have presented and voted for undisputably.
“Today, I and the Nigerian people remember you by telling us the truth in government.”
We remember you for the good works you have done by saving many lives which ordinarily would have gone to their early grave.”
