The Indispensable Power of Gratitude
My little daughter resumed school today. When I dropped her off at her class, I went to the account section to pay her fees for the term.
Because I did a bank transfer via my mobile banking app, I could not wait for the accountant to get the alert before issuing the receipt, so I left.
By the time I got back in the afternoon to pick up my daughter from school, I asked her if they gave her any paper to give me.
“Yes, Daddy” she replied gleefully as she reached out to her bag to give me the paper. As she handed me the receipt, she asked with a big smile on her face, “Daddy, did you pay my school fees?”
“Yes, I have paid,” I replied proudly.
“Thank you, Daddy!” she said, hugging my legs tightly.
I still can’t explain the feeling.
Meanwhile, I was contemplating buying her a cake as she will turn 4 tomorrow, but I have ruled it out and instead paid her school fees. You know the economics daddies do this period.😀
Do you know that after that sincere show of gratitude from my little daughter, I drove to a confectionery store in town to get her a birthday cake!
Grateful people attract goodness to themselves!
When last have you expressed gratitude to your benefactor?
Or are you part of those who feel you are entitled to the goodness you get, so your benefactors don’t deserve a ‘thank you’ from you?
Gratitude opens more doors!
Be intentional with your expression of gratitude!
