@60, Delta deputy celebrates, offers free three-day medical outreach
The deputy governor of Delta State, Mr Monday Onyeme on Monday flagged off a three-day free medical outreach as part of activities lined up to celebrate his 60th birthday anniversary,
The flag-off ceremony took place at Obiaruku in the Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State.
At the occasion, the deputy governor said that it is God who made it possible for him to attain the age of 60 years and one of the ways of thanking God is through the free medical outreach programme which will be held in the three federal constituencies of Delta North – Ndokwa, Ika and Aniocha/Oshimili.
Onyeme said, “Today is a great day because God has made it possible for me to clock 60 years. I didn’t know that I would get to 60 years; it is God who made it possible for me to go to school, and God made it possible for me to become the deputy governor.
“I said that this celebration will not be for me alone; this medical outreach is my way of saying thank God.
“The best way of showing appreciation to God is by appreciating your fellow human being, continue to remember us in your prayers and remember our governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, in your prayers.
“We must continue to pray for and support our governor, whatever he says that we should do, let us do it. We are getting the benefits of having a deputy governor.
“On Tuesday is the turn of Ika, and next tomorrow being Wednesday is for Aniocha/Oshimili, the medical team will attend to everybody, so be patient.”
People who spoke at the occasion include the Senior Policy Adviser to Governor Oborevwori, Mr Funkekeme Solomon, and the chairman of Ukwuani Local Government Area, Mr Possible Ajede, commended the deputy governor for putting smiles on the faces of people as a way of celebrating his birthday.
