AI training: FG To Train 500,000 Youths In Artificial Intelligence And Robotics
Federal Government has announced plans to train over 500,000 youths across the country in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics.
This initiative, approved by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and supported by the private sector, aims to promote technical and entrepreneurship skills among youths.
Abiola Arogundade, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education, disclosed this while distributing laptops and online course licenses to 50 students of Government Science and Technical College in Abuja.
The students will undergo a six-month online course in AI and robotics, with 25 students focusing on each subject. Upon completion, they will receive certification and tools to enable them to earn a living.
Arogundade emphasised the importance of upscaling the nation’s workforce skills from 15% to 50% and promoting technical education to catch up with countries like Germany, the USA, Korea, and Japan.
The initiative will be extended to other parts of the country, with c being the next beneficiary.
Dr James Kuta Musa, Principal of the school, appreciated the presidential aide for considering their students for the project and urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the program.
