Borno appoints Iliya as Special Adviser on Media.
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has approved the appointment of Dauda Iliya as spokesperson and Special Adviser on Media.
His appointment was confirmed in a statement released on Friday by the SSA to the governor on new media, Abdulrahman Ahmed Bundi.
The appointment follows the demise of Mallam Isa Gusau, who, until his death in February 2024, served as Zulum’s spokesperson.
Dauda Iliya is currently the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Borno State Chapter. He hails from the Kwaya-Kusar Local Government Area in the southern part of Borno State.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics from the University of Maiduguri and later obtained his master’s in Mass Communications from the same university in 2024. He has attended numerous professional courses and training sessions.
He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters.
Until his appointment, Dauda Iliya worked as a reporter for federal radio corporations covering Borno.
