Crash In BUA Cement Price Has Vindicated Umahi – Ohanaeze Ndigbo
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has said that the move by BUA Cement firm to slash the price of cement from about N5000 to N3500 per bag has vindicated the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi.
The group implied that the introduction of concrete roads technology in Nigerian roads by Umahi led to a reduction in price.
Ohanaeze stated this via a statement issued by the Secretary General of the group, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro.
Ohanaeze praised Umahi for his dedication to the construction of new Superhighways and the use of cement technology for road pavement construction, a move approved by President Bola Tinubu.
The group said, “This innovative approach, which promises roads that will last more than 50 years, was initially met with resistance from some contractors who cited the high cost of cement as a deterrent, the recent crash in the prices of BUA Cement has vindicated Senator Umahi’s position on cement technology. The high demand for cement technology has led to a decrease in the prices of cement, eliminating any excuses for not implementing Senator Umahi’s recommendation for Cement Technology.
“The craving for roads that will last 50 years has made Senator Engineer Dave Umahi a celebrated figure and the pillar of President Tinubu’s administration.”
Ohanaeze Ndigbo noted that the Nigerian’s expectations for durable roads built with cement technology are now feasible.
The group also commended Senator Umahi for his peaceful resolution with the staff and workers of the Ministry of Works, referring to the situation as a “Family friction”.
