Data Harmonisation: FG Set To End Multiple ID Registration..it’s time to do away with data multiplication
The federal government of Nigeria is committed to investing in the harmonization of the country’s data through the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). This was disclosed by Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, in a tweet via the official X account of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Centre, on Thursday.
Tunji-Ojo, who said that his ministry is committed to the success of the programme, promised that the era of multiple ID registrations will soon be over.
He said NIMC has been mandated to harmonize the country’s database as President Ahmed Bola Tinubu seeks to enhance Nigerians’ identity and security architecture.
Tunji-Ojo said, “There is no need for us to have a BVN number, a Voter’s Card number, a NIN, and a Passport Number all at once. And this is why we have to work with @nimc_ng to ensure that we harmonize all these and do away with the duplications.
“When we harmonise our data, there will be information exchange amongst agencies, such that when our people need the data for a passport or BVN, with their NIN, their data can be pulled out.
“This will not only save us from stress, cost, and energy but also help to optimise our processes.”
