Hope Initiative: NALDA Partners First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, Targets Two Million Women Beneficiaries
The National Agricultural Land Development Authority(NALDA) is partnering with first Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, with the target to empower two million women in agribusiness.
Prince Paul Ikonne, Executive Secretary/ Chief Executive Officer of NALDA, said NALDA was committed to partnering with the First Lady in encouraging women, especially the young ones in agribusiness.
Ikonne, who stated this at the flag-off of the Renewed Hope Initiative in Owerri, Imo State, assured the First Lady that NALDA would go with her all the way across the country to touch the lives of the people.
He said: “NALDA has made provision for two million women under this programme, supporting and working with the wife of the President.”
In her speech, the Nigerian First Lady Mrs.Oluremi Tinubu, explained that the Renewed Hope Initiative’s commitment to supporting women farmers aligns with a broader national agenda to strengthen the agricultural sector.
She noted that President Bola Tinubu’s administration recognises the pivotal role that agriculture plays in achieving sustainable development and ensuring food sufficiency.
She added that the Initiative is a two-pronged programme designed to support women farmers nationwide.
The First Lady explained that the Initiative would support 20 women farmers per State with the sum of N500,000 each, thereby making it a total of N10 million per State.
Mrs. Tinubu presented bank-drafts of N10million each to the South-East first ladies.
In her welcome address, the First Lady of Imo State, Mrs. Chioma Uzodimma, and Zonal Chairman South-East, Renewed Hope Initiative, appreciated the President and Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu for their support and commitment towards the success of the initiative.
Mrs. Uzodinma noted that the flag-off of the programme signified a profound commitment to the empowerment and uplifting of women across the nation.
“As we all know, the empowerment of women fuels the progress and building of a more inclusive, prosperous community,” she said.
The Renewed Hope Initiative introduced by the Nigerian First Lady, is a grassroots scheme designed for the betterment of Nigerians across the six geo-political zones of the country.
The scheme which aims at empowering women farmers and tackling poverty was flagged-off in conjunction with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA).
