Inspire Inclusion: NAOWA Shares Palliatives To 40 Widows In Borno
At least 40 widows whose late husbands paid the supreme price for serving the Nation were on Friday handed food support by the Nigeria Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) to cushion the biting effect the current hardship in many parts of the country.
Gatekeepers News reports that the gesture according to NAOWA was part to activities marking the International Women’s Day celebration with the theme : Inspire inclusion.
This was made known during the the distribution of the food support at the NAOWA Coplex inside the Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, the state capital.
Chairperson of NAOWA 7 Division Chapter, Hajiya Aishat Haruna said NAOWA will continue to show compassion to the widows and give them support to carry on with their lives.
“We’re all aware that the economic situation is very hard; one of the ways to assist these widows is to give them a lending hand and show them that we care and to bring succour to most of them who’re in need .” Aishat said
The NAOWA Chairperson stated that gone were the days where women will be given the back seat pointing out that the womenfolk are more than ever ready to contribute their quota to the development of their communities and country at large.
She said,“We’re here to inspire our women; to show them that they can do better. We want the encouragement to start from the home front because without a woman, there’s no nation but with women, we can accelerate, make progress and we can build a better nation.”
Items distributed to the widows include 40 bags of 25kg rice , 40 Cartons of Spaghetti and 40 Kegs of vegetable oil.
