Lagos barricades popular bridge in Apapa, 81 days for rehabilitation
The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion on the Marine Bridge, Apapa to facilitate emergency maintenance work.
The repair project will run from Wednesday, 4th December 2024, to Tuesday, 25th February 2025.
Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Commissioner for Transportation, in a statement on Sunday said motorists are advised to use alternative routes during the maintenance period
He said motorists heading from Apapa to Lagos Island should take Costain Roundabout to connect Eko Bridge and proceed to Lagos Island.
“Alternatively, link Ijora 7up via Marine Bridge, access the ramp to Ijora Causeway through Ijora Oloye, and connect to Eko Bridge toward Lagos Island,” he said.
From Apapa to Ijora Causeway/Iddo, he urged motorists to use Costain Roundabout to access Eko Bridge and proceed to Ijora Causeway, then take the U-turn ramp to connect Iddo.
“Alternatively, link Ijora 7up via Marine Bridge, access the ramp to Ijora Causeway through Ijora Oloye, and proceed to Iddo. Motorists traveling from Costain Roundabout will maintain through traffic inbound to Apapa,” he added.
The Lagos State Government appeals for patience, explaining that the diversion is essential for the Federal Ministry of Works’ asphalt rehabilitation of the affected road section.
