Meet Afro pop rising star, DubemCJ as he debuts single- ‘For You’
Music is life itself. One good thing about music is that when it hits you, you feel no pain. Each time I make music, I feel happy and complete. Through music, I have been able to recreate memories about the present, past and future times all fitting together.
Chukwudubem Justin Anwah aka DubemCJ
My name is Chukwudubem Justin Anwah but better known by my stage name “DubemCJ”. I was born and raised in the city of Port Harcourt but I’m originally from Onitsha, Anambra State. I’m a final year student of Uniport from the department of Human Physiology. Being the son of a medical doctor, you would know how difficult it was for me standing my ground and beating all odds to achieve my music career, and everyday I fight and pray to God to make all my efforts and struggles fruitful.
I know by now you would be wondering how I combine being a medical student and an artiste alltogether? Lol, it sounds impossible right? Music makes one creative and intellectual so, that’s why I always create a better way to combine school and passion.
My style of music is a unique blend of Afro pop, soulful hooks and watertight lyrics all painted in one picture. For me, music is my driving force, my refuge and without music life would be a mistake.
Growing up as a child, I never got the opportunity to experience what motherly love felt like because I lost my mother at a tender age. I was raised solely by my dad and he always loved and took the best care of me and my sisters. Despite all these, as a young boy, it wasn’t easy scaling through some phases of life without a mother figure. Most times, I felt pain and sadness in my heart which I couldn’t talk about. All these eventually became the inspiration and catalyst that fueled my passion for music, as I found a better way to express myself properly.
I started making music as a ten years old. I used to sing and rap for my classmates then In secondary school. Most times when classes were on going, I usually turned to the last pages of my notebooks to write music. Sometimes when the teachers stand to explain what had been taught on the board, it’s like I fall into a trance and start seeing music… a typical example of “Music no need permission to enter your spirit”.
I can’t even remember how many times I got punished in school for using my desk as a drum and my pens to beat on it, lol. I can vividly remember when I always sneak out the house in the evening to join my friends to record in one mini studio back then in our neighborhood that was because my family were not in support of my music career.
Let’s skip to the good part. I’m very glad now that my family is my biggest supporter and can’t wait to see me excel through music.
My biggest dream as an artiste is to win a Grammy Award, make my family proud and touch lives through my music.
I just dropped my debut single “For You” on 16th Jan, 2025 and it’s out on all platforms. I wrote this song with my whole heart and I want y’all to please ride with me on this journey. Thank you and stay blessed 😇 🙏❤️
