Single Mom Urges Government to Enforce Violence Act
A gender-based organization, Nguvu Change Initiative, has called on the government to amend and implement the Violence Against People Act for better protection of single mothers and their children.
As the annual Father’s Day celebration commences, leader of the initiative Nmuta Ngozi Okin decried the rising number of single mothers in Nigeria as a critical issue.
She emphasized the need for mandated child support from fathers to reduce crime rates and improve the well-being of children from broken homes.
Okin also urged women-based initiatives and NGOs to increase awareness and support for single mothers.
She advised single mothers to stay focused and strong for their children and use legal avenues to resolve issues.
As Father’s Day is celebrated, Okin’s call underscores the urgent need for legislative reforms to support single mothers.
