The Weight of the Wait- 3
“He who has promised is also able to bring it to pass.”
Moses is another person who waited by default. This is why I want us to consider his case.
With the circumstances surrounding the birth of Moses, one would have thought he had his life figured out. Moses himself thought so too.
Or how do you explain having your mother being paid by a royal princess to raise you? Thereafter, he was tutored in the best royal academic institutions available in his days.
At forty years of age, Moses felt his was a straight path, and so, wanted to kickstart his ‘ministry’ immediately. How wrong he was!
He could not believe his eyes when his big dreams crumbled before him, and he had to run away from Egypt for fear of being killed by Pharaoh. A deliverer had turned to a fugitive to save his own life, what an irony!
The next forty years, after he had given up on the lofty dreams of being the deliverer of his people, was spent on growth and development. At the end of the many years, he was ready for the task. At eighty (80) years old! Can you imagine that?
Just like Moses, so many people run through life mounting pressure on themselves thinking they are adequately prepared to take the world by storm. Their education is not only from top-notch universities, but their grades are also scholarly. With that, they had hoped to be in the best of organisations, having everything at their beck and call.
You can imagine their frustration when they find themselves teaching at a private school with salaries that can’t even meet their basic needs, let alone to cater for their parents that have invested massively in their education.
At that point, the ‘wisest’ thing they often do to maintain their sanity is to jettison their lofty dreams and ambitions. They try to recalibrate their expectations and live a low life.
This was the point Moses got to when he abandoned the dream of delivering his people from slavery and became an executive slave himself, catering for his father-in-law’s cattle.
Our timing is different from that of God. You don’t have to throw in the towel in despair. All you need to do is wait on him.
Are you still following up?
