Super Eagles ready to put in all for tomorrow’s match against Benin Republic
“Our goal is three points, and then we aim for another three points in Kigali on Tuesday.”
Yesterday, the Nigerian Super Eagles has said they are ready to put in all in tomorrow’s 2025 AFCON qualifiers opener against Benin Republic in Uyo.
The team, led by captain Troost Ekong, was seen stepping up a training session while getting themselves drilled in various bucket of cold water.
Going by a viral shorts video on various social media handles, the water drilling was also observed by Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, Frank Onyeka and Moses Simon as the purpose of the initiative is best known by the team handler, Augustine Eguavoen.
Eguavoen hinted all hands are on deck to ensure the team returns to winning ways having suffered various defeat which has put their 2026 World Cup qualification hope under threat. The cracker is billed for 5:00pm.
“Our objective is clear: to pick the six points in both matches. The players know this, and are committed to accomplishing this. The matches will not be easy; no qualifying game can be taken for granted because all the teams want to play in the finals. “However, we have spoken to the players and all of us are on the same page.
“Starting with the match against Benin Republic on Saturday, nobody is mentioning anything about revenge. Our goal is three points, and then we aim for another three points in Kigali on Tuesday that will put us in good stead for qualification.”
After tomorrow’s clash, the reigning African vice champion will keep a date with Rwanda’s Amavubi in Kigali three days later before poising for a duel with other group rival, Libya.
