Itsekiri Communities Assume Duty of Guarding Ghìghó Aghòfén, Receives Warm Welcome from Olu of Warri

The Itsekiri Communities of Ethiope-West Local Government Area, Delta State, were greeted with a warm reception as they took on the responsibility of safeguarding the Palace, known as Ghìghó Aghòfén, on Saturday, March 16th, 2024. His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, welcomed them, overseeing the hoisting of their flag on the sacred grounds as the Okere community’s flag was lowered.

These communities, steeped in rich history, include Éfúrokpe, Óbíté-ükpàghà, Éwúsé, Ibírifó, Ogúnmèyin, Ékwóbòdò, Éfó, Aja-futughe, Aja-títon, Oyeajà (Aja-omôneükänrín), Àjà-üduaghan, and Ífólé. Their presence symbolizes unity and commitment to heritage under the esteemed leadership of His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri Kingdom.

Beyond its symbolic importance, Ghìghó Aghòfén now stands as a significant tourist attraction, attracting visitors from far and wide eager to experience the richness of Itsekiri culture.

The occasion underscores the ongoing efforts to promote unity and cultural heritage within the Warri Kingdom, highlighting the enduring legacy of its traditions under the leadership of His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III.
