Coding Contest: Federal Government College Vandeikya Students Emerge Winners, Representing Nigeria

A team from Federal Government College Vandeikya that represented the school in a contest, First Legi League Masterpiece Challenge in which students from Federal Government Colleges as well as other government and private schools all over the country participated has emerged victorious, taking home various medals and awards.

The Federal Government College, Vandeikya Robotics Team received a tremendous welcome from the entire College and Vandeikya Communities after they participated in the First Lego League Challenge Masterpiece Challenge 2023-2024. This week-long competition took place at the National Stadium in Abuja from 22nd to 26th January 2024, where they competed fiercely against over sixty-five Federal Unity Colleges, as well as private and public schools.

With great pride, the College team emerged victorious, securing several prestigious awards. They achieved the remarkable feat of attaining the 2nd Position in the Engineering Excellence Award category and the 3rd Position in the Robot Performance category. In addition, they were honored with the FTC Nigeria Championship Innovate Award. As a result of their exceptional performance, the team has qualified to represent their nation in the International Challenge, which will be held in Australia at a later date.

In a post on social media by a leader of the college media team, the Clarion Media Team extended its heartiest congratulations to the team Oracle and their esteemed Coach, Mr. Boniface Ochikoloto Echono his unwavering passion and dedication to nurturing a winning team have not gone unnoticed. His legacy will undoubtedly resonate loudly throughout his life journeys.

“We must also acknowledge and appreciate the Vice Principals, Staff, and Students of the College, with special recognition to the Vice Principal, Academics 1, Mr. Austin Onmeh ., and the Vice Principal, Students Affairs, Mrs. C. U. James. Their support and guidance have been invaluable to the Vande Coders throughout their preparation for this competition”.

“Most notably, the Village Headteacher and Mother-General of “The Vandes,” Mrs. Jennifer Sende, deserves immense praise for her proactive administrative brilliance and unwavering sponsorship of students’ participation in intercollegiate competitions, both locally and internationally. May God bless her abundantly for her immense contributions”.

They also extended congratulations to the Federal Government College, Vandeikya, for yet another incredible feat added to the history of the institution.
