Prof. Edoba Omoregie becomes 11th VC, UNIBEN. 

A legal luminary, Professor of Constitutional Law and Governance, Edoba Omoregie, has been appointed as the 11th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN).

Omoregie, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), will assume office on December 1, succeeding the current Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Lillian Salami, whose tenure concludes on that date.

The announcement was made on Friday by Prof. Shaibu Umaru, Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, who noted that Omoregie was selected from a pool of 27 applicants vying for the esteemed position.

Born on April 5, 1969, Prof. Omoregie hails from Benin and holds his first, second, and third degrees from the University of Benin.

He was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1992 and was awarded the prestigious title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2021.
