Houston City declares July 7 Davido Day
In a remarkable honour to Nigerian Afrobeats singer Davido, the city of Houston has officially declared every July 7th as ‘Davido Day.’
The honor comes in recognition of Davido‘s significant contributions to the music industry and his recent electrifying performance at the Toyota Center, Houston.
Following a sold-out show that left the city pulsating with energy, Mayor Sylvester Turner signed the declaration, praising Davido for his outstanding talent, global impact, and dedication to his craft. The singer, who is currently on tour promoting his new album, enthralled fans in Houston with a show that shut down the city and left a lasting impression on attendees.
The occasion offers an opportunity to acknowledge Davido‘s artistic prowess, his impact as a cultural ambassador, and the joy he has brought to countless fans across the globe. With ‘Davido Day’ firmly established on the city’s calendar, Houston joins the chorus of global admirers paying homage to the acclaimed musician, solidifying his status as a true musical icon.
The designation of ‘Davido Day’ aligns Houston with other cities that have honored prominent artists for their remarkable achievements. Notably, Davido’s fellow Nigerian music superstar, Wizkid, was recognized in 2018 when the U.S. governor declared every October 6th as Wizkid Day.
