Rema accompanied Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Wednesday for the groundbreaking ceremony of Edo Arena.

During the ceremony, Governor Obaseki announced that the new 6,000-capacity arena would be named “Rema Dome” in honor of the singer, further cementing his status as a cultural icon of Edo State.

He has used his platform to promote the state and the rich legacy of the ancient Benin Empire, with his latest hit song, Benin Boys, featuring fellow Edo-born artiste Shallipopi, serving as a tribute to his hometown.

Rema, whose real name is Divine Ikubor, hails from Benin City and has consistently showcased his pride in his heritage.
