Reminisce expresses  Fame as hard drug with intoxication.

Nigerian rapper, Remilekun Abdulkhalid Safaru, popularly known as Reminisce, has described fame as a hard drug.

Also known as ‘Alaga Ibile’ crooner, he says fame is very intoxicating.

He spoke during a recent interview with Naija FM, Lagos.

“Fame is a hard drug. It’s very intoxicating,” Reminisce said.

On how he handles fame, the rapper said he works with the mindset that nobody is his friend.

Expressing his relationship as knowing people as colleagues, not friends which makes him not capitalizing on so much expectations from them.

Reminisce stated that seeing people as colleagues and not friends makes him not expect much from them.

The rapper recently released his highly anticipated extended play (EP) ‘Sui Generis’, a Latin phrase that means “of its/their own kind” or “in a class by itself”, therefore “unique”.

The seven-track EP features a lineup of talented artistes, including Vector, Bad Boy Timz, Logos Olori, Bard Banks, BhadBoi OML, Easyscope, and Lucid.

The tracks in ‘Siu Generis’ include ‘Kupe,’ ‘Ire,’ ‘Up As F**k,’ ‘The Ultimate,’ ‘Owo,’ ‘Scopatumana,’ and ‘Backshots.’

He is respected for his versatility as a singer, rapper, songwriter, and actor. Hailing from Ogun state, Reminisce delivers his art in both English and Yoruba, his native language.

Since making waves with his 2008 rap verse on 9ice’s ‘Gongo Aso’ album, the rapper has remained a key figure in the Nigerian music scene.

His early singles, ‘Ever Since’ and ‘If Only,’ catapulted him into the spotlight, as well as his acting debut in the Kemi Adetiba’s directed film ‘King of Boys’.

He has received several awards and recognitions for his craft.

In 2014, Time magazine recognised him as one of the “Seven World Rappers You Should Meet”.

He is also the founder of Les Roses Rouge (LRR) Records.
