Beauty Pageant and Gender Equality
How has it been for you as an organization to consistently giving platforms to a girl child to bridge gender equality?
It has not been easy for us but our passion keeps driving us to the apex of our career. The challenges we encounter yearly are the fuel to push us on.
What has been your most challenging since you venture into beauty pageant?
Funding and managing some uncultured girls.
Understanding our type of work it’s very tricky getting a constant sponsorship without pushing it to collaborators, partners and to some people who may not have love for the profession or lacks total understanding of the business. Some times in the areas of managing some contestants who does not have a good understanding of the company policies and procedures could be dicy. At times some beauty may go against our policy or reveal the term of contract to a third party which is a huge contravention of our policy. We always wants to maintain the peace to avoid any litigation or scubbles with our Queen or contestants.
How can beauty queens reign successfully without scandal and calling of names?
Beauty Queens must first have knowledge of the organization before applying. Organisation policy’s differs and systems of managing their Queens. The contestants should ask about their TOs and COs before applying. Queens should learn to know what type of contracts they are signing before going into it full time. Beauty Queens don’t automatically become the boss to the organisation she’s under, so therefore she must submit herself to the instructions, trainings and orderly conducts as proscribed by her organisation.
You have been consistently raised the bar in Entertainment especially pagentry in South South, What should expect in the next edition of face of Edo?
We believe by God’s grace and mercy, we’ll up the bar with the presentation of car and more top and expensive prices in collaboration with some music labels to get A rated music artists to perform at the grand finale.
How has been the journey so far, any memorable event?
It’s been bittersweet however the good memories and results outweighs the bad ones so it’s comfortable to say it’s been a beautiful roller-coaster ride.
Anything you want to share with the audience?
Brands and philanthropical persons should join us to celebrate the womanhood through pageant and more importantly the state governments should try to sell culture, arts and tourism through pageant as its an easy sell through this medium. When more businesses and quality collaborations are ecked more needs of the girl child would be met.
It’s a very lucrative business with huge capacity to entertain large size of employment for the youths. It also gives an opportunity for descent exposure to the girl child as a contestant or Beauty Queen.
