Crossroads of Culture Festival Highlights Afro Commerce and Nigerian Cuisine in Canada

Crossroads of Culture Festival is proud to announce its inaugural celebration featuring two flagship events: Afro Commerce Connect and the Flavours of Nigeria Festival in Canada. These events will take place on August 9th and 10th, 2024, respectively, at Brampton City Hall arena.

Afro Commerce Connect will kick off the festival on August 9th at the Conservatory in Brampton City Hall. This event is dedicated to fostering dialogue and connections within the Nigerian diaspora business community in Canada. It will explore the unique challenges and opportunities faced by other African entrepreneurs through engaging discussions, panels, and networking sessions. Keynote speakers such as JAIPAUL MASSEY-SINGH – CEO Brampton Board of Trade and CLARE BARNETT – Director, Brampton Economic Development will share insights on the role of Canadian government through Brampton Economic Community in supporting entrepreneurs and startups. Panelists include Adewale Rabiu – CEO Grey Matlock Bakery, Jaipaul Massey-Singh – CEO Brampton Board of Trade, Maryam Muritala – Founder, Canada Vendors and Gillian Aideyan – of Century 21 Empire Realty. The panel will be moderated by Uche Okugo – Investment Attraction Coordinator, Brampton.

On August 10th, the festival will continue with the Flavours of Nigeria Festival at Ken Whillans Square, Brampton City Hall. This vibrant event will celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria through its exquisite cuisine, lively music, captivating dance performances, and intricate arts. The event will feature the presentation of the Special Culture Custodian Award to His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwase III, the Olu of Warri, in recognition of his exemplary leadership and significant contributions to the development and prosperity of the Warri Kingdom. This award celebrates his unwavering commitment to fostering peace, unity, and cultural preservation in the Warri Kingdom. The Festival will also feature a special side evet known as NAIJA BRUNCH where special guests will be treated with a three course meal prepared by foremost Nigeria restaurant in Canada; Ameens Kitchen.

The Crossroads of Culture Festival aims to promote cultural diversity, foster community connections, and celebrate the unique contributions of the African diaspora. It provides a platform for cultural exchange, appreciation, and integration, enhancing the multicultural fabric of our society.
