At 90th birthday, Senator Gbenga Daniel Leads Celebration of Wole Soyinka
Senator Gbenga Daniel, the distinguished chairman of the occasion, will lead the grand celebration of Professor Wole Soyinka’s 90th birthday on Monday, July 15, 2024. The event will be held at Afotamodi Town Hall in Isara-Remo, Ogun State, starting promptly at 11 am.
Professor Wole Soyinka, the Akogun of Isara Remo and the first black man to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, will be honoured in a ceremony that highlights his lifelong dedication to learning and literature. The celebration will include the presentation of educational materials to students by Prof. Soyinka’s children, titled Isara: A Voyage Around Essay, underscoring the importance of education.
Adding a regal touch to the event, the Royal Father of the day is the Odemo of Isara, Alaiyeluwa Oba Albert Mayungbe. Other distinguished guests include the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, former Executive Director of TELL Communications, Chief Dare Babarinsa, and Prof. Omofolabo Ajayi-Soyinka from the University of Kansas, USA.
Notable attendees will also include Kunle Ajibade, the Executive Director of TheNEWS and PM News, Prof. Peyibomi Soyinka-Airewele, Dr. Olaokun Soyinka, Barr. Moremi Soyinka-Onijala, Benson Lawal, Engr. Dele Amoda, and Basiru Soyemi.
