GBOIN KINGDOM HONOURS LATE CHIEF D.S.P ALAMIEYESEIGHA AS HE RECEIVES A POSTHUMOUS CHIEFTAINCY TITLE

The former Governor of Bayelsa State Late Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha has been bestowed with a prestigious chieftaincy title in his hometown of Amassoma as the Ogboin Okurizi of Ogboin kingdom.

This formed part of activities marking the 20th Coronation Anniversary of His Royal Majesty King Oweipa Jones Ere III, The Ebenanwei of Ogboin Kingdom, who bestowed the posthumous title on the son of the late Ijaw icon, Seleake Alamieyeseigha during the occasion.

Mr. Seleake expressed his gratitude to the king for the esteemed honor in recognition of his late father.

According to him, “It is very humbling. I want to thank the king for recognizing his achievements not only in the Ogboin clan but across the Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta. I’m sober but also very happy.

What we are seeing today, the works of his hand, people still celebrate, and recognize his achievements.

I am greatly honored that His Excellency (Chief James Iboro) has also taken the role of a father in my life. He is someone that I can reach out to at any time.

With the traditions that are kept here everyone knows across the Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta that the Ogbion clan carries not only the struggles but also the ideals of what the Ijaw nation should be like and as an extension Nigeria”.

Other notable figures also honored at the event include the former Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Chief James Ibori, The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Chief Samuel Ogbuku.

They both spoke highly of Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha as they eulogized his personality for his notable achievements in Bayelsa State and the Niger Delta region.

Bestowed with the title Opu Ekie of Ogboin, Chief Ibori says, ” I am proud to be recognized as a son of the soil. Let me remind you that this is the hometown of my comrade Dr. DSP Alamieyeseigha who has gone to the great beyond. You know the bond that we share and all the things we went through on behalf of our people. I want to thank you (the king) for remembering him all the time.

On his part, the NDDC MD/CEO, Chief Ogbuku was given the title Ebi-Koriweni Owei of Ogbuku. He promised to continue to serve the people of the Niger Delta and bring more development to the grassroots.

According to him, “ Title itself humbles me because I’m just one year plus in office and I believe there is so much more I have to do. With this honour it is only going to spur us to do better”.

Speaking about the person of Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha, he says, “ the fact that you can drive down to Amasoma today is part of his legacy. Where we are today was an island that was cut off from the rest of the Yenagoa. For him to achieve that and ensure that there is a university in Amasoma ( A virgin land) tells us that anything is possible.

Also given titles are Chief Mrs. Nice Alamieyeseigha, Prof. Steve Azaiki, and High Chief Robert Enogha among others.
