Oba of Benin to Dokpesi family: We’re behind you

Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II, and son of late DAAR Communications, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi

The Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II, has condoled with the family of the late founder of DAAR Communications, owners of AIT/Ray Power, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, over his death.

Oba Ewuare II gave the condolence on Monday in Benin, when he received the family members of the media guru who visited him in his palace, where he pledged his support for Dokpesi family, friends and well-wishers.

The traditional ruler recalled how the deceased gave him live coverage on AIT for free during his coronation event in 2016, noting that his [Dokpesi] memory will remain evergreen.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Oba Ewuare II, Osaigbovo Iguobaro, noted that the Monarch promised to keep the Dokpesi dynasty in prayers.

“We will keep on praying for you. May God Almighty and our ancestors grant our prayers. We are here for you. We will do our best to support you all the time.

“I want to assure you that we will do our best, personal and official, to keep on supporting the Dokpesi family and his friends.

“We also had an idea of the challenges he had. He stood by his challenges and he came out stronger,” Oba Ewuare II said.

Earlier in his address, the eldest son of deceased, Raymond Dokpesi (Junior), thanked the Oba of Benin for his affection towards the Dokpesi’s family and wise counsel to before, during and after the funeral of their father.

Dokpesi-Junior, who was joined by his uncle, Mr Cyril Dokpesi and other family members, friends and well-wishers, solicited for prayers from the Oba to enable them carry on in life.
