Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged state workers to strive for excellence in their roles to maintain Lagos’ position as the top public service in the country.

Speaking at the “Mr. Governor’s Luncheon with Outstanding Officers” held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, the event marked the conclusion of the 2024 Lagos State Public Service Week.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized that Lagos’ public service is now the envy of other states and urged workers to avoid complacency, stressing the need for continued progress and dedication.

“We cannot rest on our laurels. We must remain the best in what we do and continue to lead,” he said.

The Head of Service, Olabode Agoro, explained that the luncheon and award ceremony were held to recognise outstanding officers from various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

Agoro thanked the governor for his focus on workers’ welfare, including the payment of minimum wages and a 100% salary increase for December 2024, among other incentives.

During the event, a total of 271 nominations were submitted, with 210 officers selected for awards.

In a raffle draw, six senior staff members won cars, including Folarin Timothy, Saliu Oluwasegun, Ojedele Idayat, Opeoluwa Moshood, Ogunade Ahmed, and Adeleye Saidat.

Additionally, five junior staff won N5 million each, and 11 others received N100,000 each.
