• BUA Cement gives donation of medical supplies to 16 Sokoto communities totalling N35m.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities, BUA Cement, a leading cement manufacturer in Africa, has donated medical supplies worth N35 million to 16 host communities in the Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

During the official handover ceremony on Tuesday, BUA Cement’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Yusuf Binji, represented by the Director of Administration and Corporate Services, Sada Suleiman, stressed the company’s commitment to ensuring hospitals and clinics in its host communities have access to essential medications.

Binji emphasised that this donation is an annual initiative, reaffirming BUA Cement’s dedication to the well-being of local communities. He also highlighted the company’s broader CSR efforts, which include scholarship programs, the provision of potable water, and the construction of mosques to support community development.

“This initiative is our way of giving back to the communities that have continuously supported us,” Binji stated.

Additionally, he announced the completion of seven solar-powered boreholes across the state, which are set for commissioning soon. Furthermore, BUA Cement has provided full school uniforms to pupils in five primary schools within its host communities.

Binji expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Aliyu for their support and assured that BUA Cement would continue working alongside the state government to improve the lives of residents. He also emphasised that the donated medications are to be distributed free of charge, particularly benefiting women and children, and should not be sold under any circumstances.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Wamakko Local Government, Alhaji Umaru Ahmad, represented by the Director of Health Services, Umar Sani Tureta—commended BUA Cement for its generosity.

He urged other companies operating in Sokoto State to follow BUA Cement’s example by investing in community development.

Ahmad assured the company that the medical supplies would be properly distributed to ensure they reach those in need.
