Former manager, bloggers stories of my son and I, not genuine – Mercy Chinwo

Mercy Chinwo has made revelations about her former manager, accusing him of threatening her life and orchestrating false rumours about the paternity of her child.

With the video posted on her Instagram page on Tuesday, the award-winning singer narrated her ordeal, alleging that the individual’s actions forced her to leave Lagos for Port Harcourt out of fear for her safety.

She had said that matters escalated in 2024, alleging that her former manager sponsored false rumours about her and respected gospel minister, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey.

She claimed the false allegations were part of a deliberate campaign to damage both her reputation and Bassey’s, with claims that he fathered her child.

Chinwo said, “A man claimed I sued him. Came online, made videos to tarnish my image. He looked at me and said, ‘I made you who you are, and I will destroy you.’ I became scared for my life, and it got to a point where I had to move from Lagos to Port Harcourt because this man made the environment toxic for me.”

The singer revealed that this individual also took legal action against her and fellow gospel singer, Minister JudiKay, while falsely claiming online that she was the one who initiated the lawsuit.

She displayed court documents in the video to refute the claims and present her side of the story.

Chinwo further accused the former manager of withholding her royalties for two years, describing him as “a bully” and “an oppressor.”

She added that their falling out escalated after she collaborated with Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, whom the former manager allegedly dislikes.

According to Chinwo, the manager went to great lengths to smear both her and Bassey, paying bloggers to spread false narratives.

“Because this man hates Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, you went as far as sponsoring fake news about an innocent child, my son. And you said my son was not my son,” she said.

The singer also claimed that the manager targeted Pastor Jerry Eze, accusing him of attempting to isolate her from other gospel ministers. She questioned his actions, saying, “The people you fight, I must fight them with you?”
