Governor Sanwo-Olu assures of strategic plan to beat economic hardship.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reassured Nigerians that despite the current economic challenges, there is a strategic plan in place to improve the country’s economic stability and enhance the well-being of its citizens.

During a special gathering on Friday to mark the 64th National Independence Day, held at the Lagos State Secretariat Community Central Mosque in Alausa, Ikeja, Sanwo-Olu addressed the pressing economic issues but urged citizens not to lose hope. Nigeria is set to celebrate its 64th Independence Day on October 1, 2024, amid widespread protests and dissatisfaction.

Accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of resilience and optimism, reassuring Nigerians that the government is actively working to navigate the nation’s challenges. He stated, “As a people, we cannot be hopeless. We must be hopeful because there is a plan in place to sustain our economic stability. If we don’t have a plan, then there’s a problem, but I assure you, there is one.”

The Governor highlighted that Nigeria is heavily reliant on imports, and sustaining the country’s economic reserves is vital. He stressed the government’s efforts to build critical infrastructure, including schools and hospitals, as part of the broader plan to ensure economic stability.

Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence in a brighter future, affirming that as long as the government continues to work with a clear vision, the nation will overcome its current challenges. He also called on Nigerians to engage in fact-based public discussions, noting that such discourse could significantly impact the country’s progress.

The Governor voiced concerns over the erosion of traditional family values due to the influence of Western lifestyles, stressing that a strong family structure is essential for national development. He urged parents to prioritize their roles in raising morally sound children and called on religious leaders to focus on mending fractured family structures through regular sermons aimed at strengthening family bonds.
