I can never split bills with my husband, Chizzy Alichi rebuffs Kiekie
Chizzy Alichi-Mbah, a Nollywood actress has opposed her colleague, Kie Kie’s view on splitting household bills with one’s spouse.
She emphatically stated she would never be caught in that web regardless of her financial worth.
She wrote: “I refuse to be in this Whatsapp group, no matter how much I make, the bill is for my Oga only.”
The movie star’s reaction followed a remark made by Kie Kie in a podcast with Toke Makinwa where she suggested couples ought to split bills.
She illustrated her recommendation citing her marriage with hubby, Ilori with whom she shares a daughter.
The content creator explained it was ‘senseless’ living in a house and not paying rent, revealing her hubby and she divides theirs as well as other financial responsibilities on the home front.
According to her, bill-sharing depicts accountability as an adult which also accords her alongside every other woman who’d embrace the same approach, respect and a firm footing in their homes.
KieKie said: “That’s why when you too are in a marriage; they cannot be bringing everything to you. Me for one, I tell women this, how will you be living in the house and you’re not paying rent? For me o, it does not make sense.”
“See, I’m living in this house; we’re sharing the rent. On my birthday, fly me to Dubai, Barcelona; that’s beautiful. Buy me a Fendi bag or whatever; beautiful. But that I’ll be living in that house and not paying rent, it’s not possible.
“So that when we want to fight, you’ll carry the chair, I’ll carry the television. You’ll carry the roof, I’ll carry the floor. Then we’ll share everything equally. You can’t tell me ‘get out of my house’. No, that’s not how to be an adult.
“There’s nothing like get out of my house, we’re living together. Because living together is like cohabitating and you have to be responsible.”
