Team Nigeria Special Cultural Attire For Paris 2024 Olympics Ceremony
Team Nigeria made a striking entrance at the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony, donning vibrant cultural attire that exhibited the nation’s rich heritage. Flagbearer Tobi Amusan led the contingent in a traditional Yoruba outfit of Iro and Buba with Gele, representing her Ogun State roots.
The team’s outfits, created by US-based sports apparel company Actively Black, featured a fusion of urban and traditional styles. The ensemble incorporated Nigeria’s green and white colours in a local ‘Adire’ pattern, paired with white fitted round-neck inner shirts.
Co-flagbearer and team captain Anuoluwapo Juwon Opeyori also stood out in his cultural attire. Other athletes, including track star, Chidi Okezie and discus thrower, Chioma Onyekwere, were seen proudly wearing their distinctive outfits.
The cultural display extended beyond clothing, with team members exhibiting the characteristic Nigerian spirit through dance and celebration. Videos shared on social media captured the joyous atmosphere as the athletes prepared for the ceremony.
This thoughtful representation of Nigerian culture on the global Olympic stage has drawn praise from fans and observers. The team’s appearance not only honours their athletic achievements but also celebrates the diverse cultural heritage of Nigeria.
