Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won his polling unit by a wide margin, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Agboola Ajayi in the Ondo governorship election.
Aiyedatiwa cast his vote at polling unit 5, Ugbo Ward 4, Obenla in Ilaje Local Government Area of the state.
At the conclusion of the exercise, Aiyedatiwa secured 128 votes, triumphing over Ajayi of the PDP, who garnered just 3 votes.
After voting, Aiyedatiwa had expressed confidence in his victory in the ongoing election.
He attributed his optimism to his strong performance in office over the past 10 months.
He said, “I am here at Obela community, at Unit 05. It has been calm and peaceful. The turnout has been encouraging. I expect the same situation at other locations. I believe it will be peaceful at other locations, and the people will comport themselves.
“We are peaceful in Ondo. We have been holding our elections in a peaceful environment. The citizens are law-abiding. I believe the election will be peaceful and credible.
“I urged the people to go out and vote. They should go out and vote. I believe, based on what we have done in the last 10 months, the voters know who they want.
“I am at an advantage to win because of the work I have done in the last 10 months. I was the only candidate who covered the entire state. I felt the people, I listened to them, and they were excited by my presence. I believe this love will translate into votes today.
