David’s Christian Centre Affects lives positively at the 10th Edition of Christmas 1000X Better

Soba, an autonomous community under Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, was thronged with its enthusiastic people and equally expectant residents of neighbouring Abule-Oshun and Abule-Ado communities to experience, firsthand, the long-anticipated David’s Christian Centre’s popular Christmas event, “Christmas 1000X Better”.

Christmas 1000X Better is an outreach organized by David’s Christian Centre every year to bolster the Christmas experience of indigent families and vulnerable persons resident in select communities through the provision of instructional spiritual engagements, free medical checks, and food supplies. Since its inception in 2014, over five communities, 8000 families and an average of 32,000 individuals (excluding children) have been reached out to every year for nine years.

Headed by Dr. Kingsley Okonkwo and Mildred-Kingsley Okonkwo, David’s Christian Centre is a ministry with a vision to raise victorious people in every area of life through insightful teaching of the Word of God. With two worship centers in Lagos, Nigeria, theministry has consistently impacted its host and neighboring communities through the provision of relevant infrastructural facilities like borehole systems and has taken on various projects which include but are not limited to school renovations, provision of support and relief materials, and medical checks.

Going a notch higher, the 10th edition of Christmas 1000X Better targeted a total of 2000 families resident in the Abule-Ado, Abule-Oshun, and Soba communities of Satellite Town to conduct medical checks and distribute food supplies containing a 5kg bag of rice, groundnut oil, tomato paste, cans of fish, spaghetti packs, spices and other ingredients sufficient to feed a fairly sized family. Children were not left out as free grooming sessions were arranged for them: hair plaiting session for the girls and trendy haircuts for boys; in addition to the games played and the party packs shared.

Speaking to a member of the visual crew, residents expressed a deep appreciation to the church for the medical checks conducted, food bundle received, and the arrangements made for the children and declared blessings on the church.
