“Don’t give up purpose in your life that you will not defile yourself with what they are saying,” Kumuyi said.
Pastor William Kumuyi, the General Superintendent, Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has revealed how he met his wife, Esther when she was 65 years.
At the programme for the youths in Delta, Kumuyi had told the youths and young adults not to believe the cliché which says “A fool at 40 is a fool forever.”
The man of God, who was preaching on the topic: “The Decision and Determination to stand Out,” said Esther was never married at 65 when he proposed to her.
Kumuyi said since they got married in 2010 after his former wife, Biodun died, he has become the greatest thing that ever happened in her life.
“When you accept that a fool at 40 is a fool forever, you are defined by what they say. You have not even made any attempt. You are 43, you have not married. I am 43, I cannot have a child any more. At 43 I cannot start a new lesson anymore, where I am is for ever. I cancel that in Jesus name.
“I am going to say something, mummy Esther will not mind, mummy will you mind?” Esther said she would not mind and then Kumuyi went on: “She was 40, she was not married, 45, she was not married, 50, she was not married, 55, she was not married, 60, she was not married. 65, I came along and I said the will of God is for me to marry you.
“She went to pray, saying God, what should I do? God did not say tell him no, tell him you are 65, a fool at 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, is a fool forever. She came back and said, what did she say?” The crowd chorused ‘yes.’
“She said ‘yes’. In your life, at 30, 35, 40, 50, 60, 65, say yes. And since she said yes and we came together, I, William, the defender of the faith, I have become the greatest thing that ever happened in her life. Don’t give up purpose in your life that you will not defy yourself with what they are saying,” Kumuyi said.
