Carlos Alcaraz Beats Novak Djokovic To Win Wimbledon Title In Thrilling Final

World number one Carlos Alcaraz ended Novak Djokovic’s long reign at the All England Club to win his first Wimbledon title with a 1-6 7-6(6) 6-1 3-6 6-4 victory in the final on Sunday.

The Spaniard, 20, beat the seven-time champion to become the youngest man to lift the Challenge Cup since 18-year-old Boris Becker won the second of his three Wimbledon titles in 1986.

It is the first time since 2002 – before Alcaraz was born – that the Wimbledon men’s title has been won by somebody other than Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal or Andy Murray.

Alcaraz’s stunning performance secured his second grand slam, following last year’s US Open, and ended Djokovic’s remarkable run of 45 straight wins on Wimbledon’s Centre Court, a run that stretches back over 10 years.
