Faustino Anjorin of Nigeria leaving for Empoli on tansfer

Nigeria midfielder, Faustino Anjorin has officially ended his sixteen-year journey with Chelsea, as the Nigerian midfielder has signed with Italian Serie A club Empoli.

This deal which was announced by Empoli on Thusrday August 29, confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Chelsea for the permanent transfer of Anjorin.

The Nigerian-English-born signed a three-year contract with Empoli, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2026-2027 season.

He will be joining fellow Nigerian players Emmanuel Ekong, son of former international Prince Ikpe Ekong, and Super Eagles defender Tyronne Ebuehi.

Anjorin joined Chelsea as a young schoolboy, progressing through the youth ranks to make his professional debut in 2019 during a Carabao Cup match against Grimsby Town.

Before the end of that season, he made his Premier League debut, coming off the bench against Everton at Stamford Bridge.

After that, the year after, he featured in the Emirates FA Cup and Champions League, bringing his total first-team appearances for Chelsea to five.

Anjorin also had loan spells at Lokomotiv Moscow, Huddersfield Town, and Portsmouth, where he made a total of 40 appearances and scored six goals.
