Onyinyechi champions Nigeria’s first gold medal at Paralympics 2024

On Friday, Onyinyechi Mark emerged winner, giving Nigeria’s first gold medal at the Paralympics 2024.

Onyinyechi was on another level as she competed in the women’s up to 61kg Para-Powerlifting category.

She lifted 150kg to set a new world record.

She was able to beat the record of her previous world record by lifting an astonishing 147kg, before further pushing the bar to 150kg—a feat that has solidified her position as the dominant force in the sport.

Hailing from Umuahia and conquering the world, Mark is really ‘marking’ her name in history as one of the greatest Powerlifters to come out of Nigeria.
